  • 1 cup water Boiled hot, but not boiling over.
  • 3 tablespoons borax Dissolve completely in hot water.
  • 1 clear jar or container To showcase the growing crystals.
  • 1 small plastic snowman figurine Or similar decorations to enhance the village.
  • 1 piece white string or fishing line To suspend the snowman in the solution.
  • 1 spoon spoon for stirring Stir the borax into the water.
  • few drops food coloring Optional, for creating vibrant crystal shades.

Instructions
 

Preparing the Solution

  • Boil 1 cup of water in a saucepan, ensuring it’s hot but not boiling over.
  • Add 3 tablespoons of borax to the hot water and stir well until fully dissolved.
  • Watch for any crystals forming at the bottom of the container as you stir!

Creating the Snowman Village

  • Place the clear jar on a flat surface for stability.
  • Use the string to tie your small plastic snowman figurine so it’s suspended above the bottom of the jar.
  • Carefully pour the borax solution into the jar, ensuring the snowman is immersed.

Finishing Touches

  • Leave the jar undisturbed in a cool place for about 6-12 hours.
  • Check periodically to see the crystals forming around the snowman.

Notes

For varied results, you can customize your village with different sizes and designs of snowmen or additional decorations. Make it a yearly tradition to craft a new winter scene together.
