Ingredients

Materials

  • 1 piece Cardstock or heavy paper Sturdy and holds shape well
  • 1 piece Scissors For cutting the spiral
  • 1 piece Pencil For drawing the template
  • 1 piece Ruler To draw accurate lines
  • 1 piece Compass (optional) For drawing spirals
  • 1 piece Hole punch For creating the hanging loop
  • 1 piece String or fishing line To hang the wind catcher
  • 1 set Stickers, markers, or paint for decoration For personalizing the design
  • optional piece Beads For adding flair

Instructions

Preparation

  • Using a pencil and ruler, draw a square on the cardstock, about 6 inches on each side.
  • From each corner, use a compass (or draw freehand) to create a spiral that moves inward, stopping about 1 inch from the center.

Cutting

  • Carefully cut along the lines of your spiral with scissors.
  • Support the paper with the other hand to prevent tearing.

Decoration

  • Use stickers, markers, or paint to embellish each layer of the spiral.
  • Consider using vibrant colors or patterns to make it eye-catching!

Assembly

  • Punch a hole through the top end of your spiral.
  • Cut a piece of string or fishing line about 12 inches long, thread it through the hole, and tie a knot.
  • If desired, thread beads onto the string before tying for extra flair.

Hanging

  • Choose a spot where it can catch the breeze, such as a porch or branch.
  • Ensure it hangs freely so it can twirl smoothly.

Notes

Experiment with different shapes for unique designs. Use metallic or reflective paper for shine. Consider adding weights for stabilization.
