Ingredients

Materials

  • 1 pack Sponges (preferably dish sponges or other soft sponges) Choose soft sponges for best results.
  • 1 each Scissors To cut the sponges into strips.
  • 1 each String or rubber bands To secure the sponge strips together.
  • 1 each Bucket or large bowl For soaking the sponge bombs in water.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Take the sponges and cut them into strips about 1 inch wide. You will need at least 4 strips per sponge.
  • Gather 4 strips together and align them so they form a small bundle, ensuring the ends are even for a neat finish.
  • Use string or a rubber band to tightly secure the center of the sponge bundle to create a ‘head’ that mimics a sponge water bomb.
  • Gently pull apart the strips at the ends to fluff them out, which will increase the surface area and create a more effective water absorber.
  • Soak the sponge bombs in a bucket or bowl of water to fully absorb. Once soaked, they are ready for throwing!

Notes

Try using different color combinations and shapes for a vibrant assortment. You can also decorate them with fabric paint.
