Ingredients
  

Materials

  • 1 piece Clear glass jar with a lid (e.g., mason jar) Ensure it is clean and dry.
  • full Water Fill the jar about ⅔ full.
  • 1 cup Vegetable oil (or baby oil) Gently pour until it reaches the top.
  • few drops Food coloring (various colors) Add to customize your storm.
  • 1 tablet Alka-Seltzer tablets (or any fizzy tablet) Break into pieces before adding.
  • optional Glitter Use for sparkle.
  • optional Small plastic figurines Add to create a mini-world.

Preparation

  • Start with a clean and dry clear glass jar.
  • Fill the jar about ⅔ full with water. Leave some space at the top for the oil.

Assembly

  • Gently pour vegetable oil into the jar until it reaches the top.
  • Add a few drops of food coloring to the jar.
  • Break an Alka-Seltzer tablet into pieces.
  • Drop a piece into the jar and watch the reaction.
  • For added sparkle, sprinkle in some glitter.
  • Seal the jar with its lid if desired, or display as a decoration.

Customize Colors: Try using different food colors for unique effects. Layer Your Contents: Experiment with layering more oil and water to see how they interact. Add Figurines: Place small toys or figures to create a mini-world inside your storm. Use Clear Gel: Swap out vegetable oil for clear hair gel for varied visual effects.
