Ingredients for Sugar Crystals

  • 3 cups Granulated sugar Use more for larger crystal formations.
  • 1 cup Water Room temperature.
  • 1 none Heat-resistant glass jar or container For growing crystals.
  • 1 none Wooden skewer or string Coat with sugar for crystal growth.
  • 1 none Clean cloth or paper towel To cover the jar.
  • optional none Food coloring To add color to your crystals.
  • optional none Flavoring extracts For additional flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 3 cups of granulated sugar.
  • Heat gently while stirring until the sugar fully dissolves, forming a saturated solution.
  • If desired, add a few drops of food coloring or a small amount of flavoring extract to the solution.

Setting Up Crystals

  • Allow the solution to cool for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Dip the wooden skewer or string in clean water, then roll it in sugar to coat.
  • Carefully pour the warm sugar solution into the glass jar, leaving some space at the top.
  • Place the prepared skewer or string into the jar, ensuring it doesn’t touch the sides or bottom.

Waiting for Crystals

  • Cover the jar lightly with a cloth to keep dust out.
  • Place it in a cool, undisturbed area. Check back in 3-7 days to see the crystals grow!

Notes

Customize colors and flavors as desired. You can also experiment with sizes by adjusting the sugar-to-water ratio.
