Ingredients

Materials

  • 1 piece Clear plastic (CDs or transparency sheets)
  • Assorted colored tissue paper
  • 1 piece Scissors
  • 1 bottle Mod Podge or clear glue
  • 1 piece Paintbrush
  • 1 piece Hole punch
  • 1 String or fishing line (for hanging) Optional: glitter, rhinestones, or sequins

Instructions

Preparation

  • Clear a flat surface and gather all materials.
  • Lay down some newspaper or a craft mat to protect your workspace.

Cut the Base

  • If using CDs, they can be used as they are. For plastic sheets, cut them into your desired shape (circle, star, etc.).

Create the Design

  • Tear the colored tissue paper into small pieces.
  • Use the paintbrush to apply a thin layer of Mod Podge on the plastic surface.
  • Place tissue paper pieces onto the glued surface, creating a colorful design.

Seal the Design

  • Once you're happy with the arrangement, brush a thin layer of Mod Podge over the top of the tissue papers to seal them.
  • Let it dry completely (approximately 1-2 hours).

Punch a Hole

  • Use the hole punch to make a hole at the top for hanging.

Add the String

  • Cut a piece of string or fishing line, thread it through the hole, and tie a knot.

Hang and Enjoy

  • Find a sunny window and hang your new sun catcher where it can catch the light!

Notes

Consider mixing in natural elements like flower petals or leaves for added texture. These sun catchers are meant for indoor use only.
