  • ¼ cup cornstarch Can substitute with flour if necessary.
  • ½ cup baking soda Incorporates texture change.
  • 1 tablespoon water Helps to bring all ingredients together.
  • as needed food coloring Various colors for swirling designs.

Supplies

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 spoon or whisk
  • 1 plastic gloves Optional for easy cleanup.
  • 1 container for storage

Instructions

Preparation

  • In your mixing bowl, combine the white school glue and cornstarch. Stir together until smooth; this will form the base of your bounce ball.
  • Gradually mix in the baking soda. This is where you’ll start to see the texture change, making it more cohesive.
  • Slowly add in the water while stirring. This will help to bring all the ingredients together into a pliable dough.
  • Divide your mixture into smaller bowls if using multiple colors. Add a few drops of food coloring into each bowl and mix thoroughly to create vibrant swirls.
  • Once your colors are mixed, take small amounts of each color and roll them together in your hands to form a ball. The combination will give you a swirling effect.
  • Place your bounce balls on a paper towel or a drying rack. Let them dry for 24-48 hours before using to ensure they harden properly.

Notes

Customization: Try adding glitter or metallic paint for a shimmery effect! Adjust the amount of mixture for different sizes—larger balls require more mixture.
