Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Boil 5 cups of water in a pot.
  • Add 2 cups of tapioca pearls to the boiling water and stir.
  • Lower the heat and let them simmer for about 15-20 minutes until they become translucent.
  • When cooked, let them cool in a colander.

Coloring

  • If you wish to add color, separate the pearls into small bowls.
  • Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl and gently mix until evenly coated.

Setting Up

  • Pour the cooked and colored tapioca pearls into a large bin.
  • Mix in small toys, measuring cups, or scoops for added play opportunities.

Exploration

  • Allow the children to dive in! Encourage them to feel, scoop, and create with the tapioca pearls.

Notes

Use natural dyes for a less artificial approach, and customize the sensory bin to fit different themes. Easy to clean up, tapioca pearls are great for enhancing play without staining.
