Tie-Dye Bouncy Balls

Ingredients
  

For the bouncy balls

  • 1 teaspoon Borax
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup white school glue Best to use for the right consistency
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • various drops food coloring To achieve desired colors and patterns

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • spoon or spatula
  • plastic gloves (optional) For cleanliness

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 teaspoon of Borax with 1/2 cup of warm water. Stir until the Borax is completely dissolved.
  • In a separate bowl, mix 1/2 cup of white school glue with 1/4 cup of cornstarch. Add a few drops of food coloring to achieve your desired color.

Combining Mixtures

  • Slowly pour the Borax solution into the glue mixture while stirring continuously.
  • As you mix, you’ll notice the mixture starting to clump and form a ball.

Shaping the Ball

  • Once a sticky ball starts to form, take it into your hands and knead it slightly.
  • Continue to add more food coloring to create your tie-dye patterns as you go.

Setting

  • Place the bouncy ball aside for about 15 minutes to harden slightly.
  • After this time, it should still be pliable but firm enough for bouncing.

Notes

Try using neon or metallic food coloring for a unique look. Experiment with different sizes for varied effects. Adult supervision is recommended when mixing Borax.
