Toilet Paper Roll Butterflies

Ingredients
  

Materials Needed

  • 2 pieces Empty toilet paper rolls Cut in half to create butterfly bodies.
  • 1 each Scissors For cutting materials.
  • 1 set Paint or markers Used for decorating the butterfly body.
  • optional Googly eyes For added character.
  • 1 tube Glue To attach wings and details.
  • 2 pieces Pipe cleaners For making antennae.
  • optional Glitter For extra sparkle on the wings.
  • 2 sheets Paper for wings Construction paper or colored paper can be used.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Take an empty toilet paper roll and cut it in half. This will create two butterfly bodies.

Decoration

  • Use paint or markers to cover the outside of the roll with bright colors. Allow it to dry completely.

Wings Creation

  • Cut out two wing shapes from additional paper. They can be any size or shape you desire.
  • Encourage kids to experiment with shapes to represent different butterfly species.

Assembly

  • Use glue to attach the paper wings to the back of the painted roll. Press gently and wait for a few moments to ensure they stick well.
  • Glue on googly eyes for added charm.
  • Create antennae by folding a pipe cleaner in half and sticking it into the top of the roll.

Finishing Touches

  • Optionally sprinkle some glitter on the wings or body for extra sparkle! Let everything dry before handling.

Notes

Consider swapping materials for different textures or colors. Discuss the attributes of real butterflies and their habitats while crafting.
