  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
  • to taste food coloring (pink and blue) Add a few drops of each color

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour and 1 cup of salt. Mix until well blended.
  • In a saucepan, combine 2 cups of water, 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil, and 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar. Stir to combine.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir continuously. The mixture will begin to thicken.
  • Once the dough starts pulling away from the edges, add a few drops of food coloring (start with pink). Stir well to incorporate the color.
  • Once the dough has formed, remove it from the heat. Let it cool slightly, then transfer to a clean surface. Knead it for a few minutes until it reaches a soft and smooth texture.
  • Repeat steps 1 to 5, but use blue food coloring this time to create your second color.
  • Store each color of playdough in an airtight container to keep it fresh and soft for future play.

Notes

Customize colors by experimenting with different food colorings. Add essential oils for scent and mix in glitter for sparkle.
