  • 1 Small bowl (for mixing) For mixing food coloring with water.
  • 1 Pipette or dropper (optional) For adding colored water precisely.

Preparation

  • Start by filling your clear jar about halfway with water.
  • Observe the clarity and depth of the water.

Creating the Jar

  • Slowly pour vegetable or baby oil into the jar until it’s nearly full, leaving a little space at the top.
  • Enjoy watching the oil float on top of the water.
  • In a small bowl, mix food coloring with a small amount of water.
  • Using a pipette or dropper, add drops of the colored water to the oil.
  • Marvel at how the colors burst and drift, creating beautiful patterns in the oil.
  • If desired, sprinkle in a little glitter for an added sparkly effect.
  • Close your jar tightly with the lid.
  • Shake it gently to mix the colors and then watch the 'fireworks' show as they settle.

Notes

Customize colors by experimenting with different food coloring combinations. Consider swapping oils for varied effects or adding scents with essential oils.
