Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour can substitute with gluten-free flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • food coloring (red, pink, purple, etc.) Customize color as desired
  • essential oils (optional: vanilla, lavender, etc.) Add during kneading for fragrance

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and cream of tartar. Stir well to ensure the ingredients are evenly mixed.
  • In a saucepan, mix the water, vegetable oil, and your chosen food coloring. Stir until the coloring is well incorporated.

Cooking

  • Place the saucepan over medium heat. Gradually add the dry mixture into the saucepan while stirring continuously.
  • Keep stirring until the mixture thickens and begins to form a dough.
  • Once the dough has pulled away from the sides of the pan, remove it from the heat.

Kneading & Storing

  • Allow the dough to cool for a few minutes, then knead it with your hands until it reaches a smooth texture.
  • If desired, add a few drops of your favorite essential oils during kneading.
  • Once fully cooled, place the play dough in an airtight container to keep it fresh.

Notes

You can mix different colors together to create unique shades. Add glitter or sand for a fun twist on the texture. Experiment with various essential oils for different aromas.
