Ingredients

For the lanterns

  • 1 piece Clean glass jars (mason jars or any recycled jars) Choose jars based on your preference.
  • 1 bottle White glue or Mod Podge For sticking the tissue paper.
  • 2-3 sheets Red and pink tissue paper (or any colors you prefer) Cut into small squares or hearts.
  • 1 piece Scissors For cutting the tissue paper.
  • 1 piece Paintbrush or sponge applicator For applying glue.
  • 1 piece LED tea lights For safety; do not use regular candles.
  • 1 piece Twine or ribbon (optional for decoration) For added decoration.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Clean your jars thoroughly to remove any labels or residue.
  • Ensure the jars are completely dry before starting.

Creating the Lanterns

  • Cut the tissue paper into small squares or hearts (around 2-3 inches) using scissors.
  • Using your paintbrush, apply a thin layer of glue on the outside of the jar and smooth it out.
  • Stick your cut tissue paper pieces onto the glued area, overlapping them slightly for a layered effect.
  • Continue until the jar is covered, leaving the top edge clear.
  • Once decorated, add another layer of glue on top of the tissue paper to seal it. Allow it to dry completely (about an hour).
  • Place an LED tea light inside the jar. If desired, tie twine or ribbon around the jar neck for a decorative touch.

Notes

Consider using colored glass jars or painting them instead of using tissue paper. You can also add messages or create themed designs for different celebrations.
