Materials for Water Marbling

  • 10 pieces Clear glass or plastic ornaments
  • 5 ounces Acrylic paints (water-based) Use vibrant colors for better designs.
  • 1 container Shallow container or tray (for water) Ensure it's deep enough to submerge the ornament.
  • 1 piece Stirring stick (to create patterns) Use a wooden stick or similar.
  • 5 pieces Toothpicks or pins (for finer detailing) Useful for adding intricate designs.
  • 1 bucket Bucket or pitcher (for clean-up) To dispose of used water or paint.
  • 1 roll Newspaper or paper towels (for drying) Protect your workspace from spills.
  • Disposable gloves (optional, to keep hands clean) Recommended if you want to avoid paint stains.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Lay down newspaper or paper towels to protect your surfaces from paint spills.
  • Gather all your materials within reach.

Marbling

  • Pour clean water into the shallow container. It should be deep enough to fully submerge the ornament.
  • Carefully drip drops of acrylic paint onto the surface of the water.
  • Use a stirring stick to swirl and create patterns in the paint.
  • Hold the ornament by the top metal cap and carefully dip it into the patterned water. Rotate it slightly to pick up more color.
  • Lift the ornament out and let the excess water drip off.
  • Place the ornament on a paper towel to dry completely.

Notes

Experiment with different color combinations and layering techniques. If you don't have acrylic paints, nail polish can be used as an alternative. Allow at least 24 hours for the ornaments to dry completely before handling.
