Instructions

Preparation

  • Inflate the balloon to your desired size and tie it off.
  • Lay down a plastic sheet or newspapers to catch any mess.

Make the Paste

  • Combine 1 part flour with 2 parts water in a bowl to create a smooth mixture. Alternatively, use a strong glue.

Create the Base Layer

  • Cut or tear newsprint or tissue paper into small strips (approximately 1 inch wide).
  • Dip strips into the paste and apply them to the balloon, covering the entire surface while leaving a small hole at the top.

Add More Layers

  • Add 2-3 more layers, allowing each layer to dry completely before adding the next.

Paint and Decorate

  • Once dry, paint the top half green and the bottom half pink, with white for the inner rind and black or dark seeds for decoration.
  • Allow the paint to dry thoroughly.

Fill the Piñata

  • Carefully pop the balloon and remove it from inside.
  • Through the hole, fill your piñata with candies and toys.

Seal the Opening

  • Use additional strips of tissue paper to cover the hole, ensuring the treats stay inside.

Hang and Enjoy!

  • Tie a strong string to the top for hanging. Your piñata is now ready for the party!

Notes

Customize colors with various tissue paper, match candy to your party theme, and consider shaping smaller watermelon slices as individual piñatas.
