  • 1 cup Flour
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 bowl Bowl for mixing
  • 1 measuring cup Measuring cup

  • 1 stick Glue stick or craft glue

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix 1 part flour with 2 parts water until smooth.
  • Ensure there are no lumps for easy application.

Creating the Piñata

  • Inflate your balloon to approximately 20-24 inches in size. Tie it securely and set it aside.
  • Dip newspaper strips into the paste mixture. Remove excess glue and begin placing them onto the balloon, overlapping pieces.
  • Cover the balloon fully with at least 3-4 layers, allowing each layer to dry for about 24 hours.
  • Once completely dry, carefully pop the balloon using scissors or a pin and remove the balloon remains from the paper mache shell.
  • Trim the edges of the paper mache to form a rounded shape, then paint or attach green tissue paper around the exterior (the rind) and pink tissue paper or paint for the interior.
  • Add black paper circles as 'seeds' for a more authentic look and allow the paint or glue to dry completely.

Final Assembly

  • Cut a small hole at the top and fill the piñata with candies or small toys.
  • Close the hole with tape or another layer of paper mache.
  • Attach a ribbon or string to hang your piñata and let guests take turns breaking it open!

Notes

Customize colors to match your party theme. Consider using small toys, confetti, or party favors for variety. Make mini piñatas for individual treats or decorations.
