Ingredients
  

Base Materials

  • 1 clean jar A clean, clear jar with a lid Any clear container will work, but ensure it doesn't have any decorative patterns.
  • 1-2 inches Small pebbles or sand For ground/earth layer.
  • 1 cup Water Mix with blue food coloring for the water layer.
  • a few drops Blue food coloring To color the water layer.
  • cotton balls or white pom-poms Cotton balls or white pom-poms For fluffy clouds.
  • vegetable oil or baby oil Oil Creates a barrier above the water.
  • as desired Glitter Optional for sparkle.

Tools

  • 1 measuring cup A measuring cup For mixing water and coloring.
  • 1 spoon A spoon For layering.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Start with a clean jar. The transparency will let you showcase all the weather layers effectively.
  • Add a layer of small pebbles or sand at the bottom of your jar, about 1-2 inches deep.
  • In a measuring cup, mix water with a few drops of blue food coloring.
  • Carefully pour the blue water mixture over the pebbles until the jar is about 1/3 full.
  • Gently place cotton balls or white pom-poms on top of the water layer for fluffy clouds.
  • Sprinkle some glitter over the cotton balls for a dreamy, shimmery effect if desired.
  • Slowly pour vegetable oil on top of the cotton balls until the jar is nearly full.
  • Seal the jar tightly and decorate the lid or jar for a personal touch if you wish.

Notes

Customize clouds with colored cotton for different weather effects. Experiment with layers and add scents with essential oils for sensory experiences. The jar can last a long time if sealed and kept out of direct sunlight.
