Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup salt Acts as a preservative
  • 2 tablespoons cream of tartar

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • food coloring (blue, white, or any winter colors) Adjust based on preference
  • winter-themed essential oils (like peppermint or cinnamon) For added fragrance

Optional Ingredients

  • glitter
  • small winter-themed toys (like snowflakes) For added sensory elements

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, and cream of tartar until well combined.
  • In a saucepan, combine water, vegetable oil, and food coloring. Add a few drops of essential oil.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the saucepan with the dry mixture over medium heat.
  • Stir continuously for 3-5 minutes until the dough starts to clump together and pulls away from the sides.
  • Once the dough forms a ball, turn it out onto a clean surface and allow it to cool slightly.
  • Knead the dough to your desired texture.
  • Optionally, mix in glitter or small toys for an extra sensory experience.
  • Store the play dough in an airtight container to keep it fresh.

Notes

For color swaps, use different colors for a snowy palette. Experiment with various essential oils for different scents. Incorporate items like pine needles or crushed peppermint for added sensory elements.
