This Ghostface crochet pattern free project makes a spooky amigurumi Halloween figure that works for seasonal decor or a handmade gift. It offers a steady rhythm and calming process suitable for beginners.

  • Total Time: 140 minutes

Ingredients

  • 80 yards white worsted weight yarn (weight 4, medium)
  • 40 yards black worsted weight yarn (weight 4, medium)
  • One H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
  • About 2 ounces (57 g) polyester fiberfill
  • Two 10 mm black safety eyes
  • About 24 inches (61 cm) black embroidery floss
  • Yarn needle with a large eye
  • Small scissors
  • One stitch marker (optional)
  • Tape measure (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make a magic ring with white yarn and place a stitch marker in the first stitch of each round.
  2. Round 1: Work 6 sc into the magic ring. Pull the ring closed. You now have 6 stitches.
  3. Round 2: Work 2 sc in each stitch around. This creates an increase, bringing the round to 12 stitches.
  4. Round 3: Repeat 1 sc in the next stitch, then 2 sc in the next stitch around for a total of 18 stitches.
  5. Round 4: Repeat 1 sc in each of the next 2 stitches, then 2 sc in the next stitch around for a total of 24 stitches.
  6. Rounds 5 through 10: Work 1 sc in each stitch around for 6 rounds, keeping 24 stitches.
  7. Rounds 11 and 12: Work 1 sc in each stitch around for 2 rounds, still keeping 24 stitches. Add a small amount of fiberfill after Round 12.
  8. Round 13: Repeat 1 sc in each of the next 2 stitches, then sc2tog around for a total of 18 stitches.
  9. Round 14: Repeat 1 sc in the next stitch, then sc2tog around for a total of 12 stitches.
  10. Round 15: Work sc2tog around for a total of 6 stitches. Check for gaps and add stuffing if necessary.
  11. Round 16: Work sc2tog around for a total of 3 stitches. Cut the white yarn, leaving a 6-inch tail, and pull the tail through the last loop.
  12. Shape the hood edge with black yarn. Insert the hook through the front loops of the stitches around the widest part of the body, join with a slip stitch, and work 1 sc in each of the 24 front loops.
  13. Add the face after cool; place the two safety eyes and stitch the long mouth with black embroidery floss.
  14. Finish by weaving in every yarn end through several nearby stitches, then trim the tails.

Notes

For a child under three, embroider the eyes instead of using safety eyes, as small parts can create a safety risk.
