  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar Used to activate the reaction

For crafting

  • 1 bowl for mixing
  • 1 tray or plate for crafting
  • 1 spoon or whisk

For decoration (optional)

  • pipe cleaners For adding arms
  • buttons For eyes and mouth
  • markers For drawing faces

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the baking soda and cornstarch.
  • Slowly add the water to the dry ingredients while stirring to create a thick paste.
  • Set the mixture aside for a few minutes to thicken.

Building the Snowman

  • On a tray or plate, form your snowman shape using the baking soda mixture.
  • Start with a larger ball for the body and add smaller balls for the head.
  • Use your hands to smooth and shape the snowman.

Activation

  • Carefully drizzle vinegar over the snowman.
  • Watch as the reaction begins, creating fizzing bubbles and a frosty layer around the snowman.
  • Allow the reaction to continue for several minutes as the snowman starts 'growing.'

Drying

  • Leave the snowman to dry for a few hours or overnight.
  • Once completely dry, it will harden and have a sparkling crystal appearance.

Decoration

  • Let your creativity shine by decorating your snowman with buttons, pipe cleaners, or drawings using markers.

Notes

Consider using lemon juice instead of vinegar for a different scent and reaction. Mix food coloring into the baking soda mixture for a vibrant snowman.
