  • 1 inch Small pebbles or gravel For the drainage layer.
  • 1 layer Activated charcoal Optional for odor control.
  • 1 amount Glow-in-the-dark paint or glow-in-the-dark gravel Choose one or both types.

  • 1 set Small plants (like ferns, succulents, or air plants) Choose plants suitable for terrariums.
  • optional items Decorative items Like tiny figurines or colored stones.
  • 1 pair Gardening gloves Optional but helpful.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Clean your glass jar with soapy water and dry it thoroughly.
  • Choose a container based on your space; clear glass shows off the layers beautifully.

Creating Layers

  • Add a layer of small pebbles or gravel at the bottom of the jar (about 1 inch) to help drain excess water and prevent root rot.
  • Sprinkle a thin layer of activated charcoal over the pebbles for freshness.
  • Add about 2-3 inches of potting soil on top of the drainage layer and smooth the surface.
  • Mix glow-in-the-dark paint with a small amount of soil and sprinkle it on top, or mix glow-in-the-dark gravel with the potting soil.

Planting and Decorating

  • Create small holes in the soil and gently insert your chosen plants, arranging them creatively and leaving space for growth.
  • Add any decorative items like tiny figurines or colored stones, ensuring not to overcrowd.

Final Touches

  • Lightly mist the plants with water (avoid soaking) and place your terrarium in a bright area to charge the glow material.

Notes

Customize plants for low light if necessary. Use colored sand or pebbles for a different look and switch decorations seasonally. You can create your own glow-in-the-dark paint using non-toxic powders for a unique touch.
