Materials

  • 1 sheet Black construction paper Can substitute with other colors or recycled cardboard.
  • 1 pair Scissors For cutting out shapes.
  • 1 stick Glue or a glue stick To attach the parts together.
  • 1 pack Wiggle eyes (various sizes) Can draw eyes with a marker or use buttons instead.
  • 8 pieces Pipe cleaners (black or color of choice) Cut into 4 inch pieces for spider legs.
  • 1 piece Pencil For tracing shapes if needed.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by cutting out a large oval shape from the black construction paper for the body of your spider.
  • Cut out a smaller oval for the head.

Assembly

  • Use glue to attach the smaller oval (head) to one end of the larger oval (body). Hold it in place for a few seconds to ensure it sticks well.
  • Take the pipe cleaners and cut them into 4 inch pieces. You will need 8 pieces (4 for each side).
  • Bend each piece of pipe cleaner in half to create a ā€˜V’ shape for the legs.
  • Glue the bent ends of the pipe cleaners to the sides of the spider body, spreading them out to simulate real spider legs.
  • Finally, glue on the wiggle eyes to the head, using one or more eyes as desired.
  • Get creative and add glitter, stickers, or other decorative elements to give your spider a unique look.

Notes

Consider using different colors, varying sizes, or even string to hang your spider. This craft is suitable for all ages and is a great way to bond creatively.
